27 Days, 27 Players: The Tide Times Breaks Down the #1 Recruiting Class in the Nation via Rivals.com

By Dan Harralson

Day 10: James Carpenter (OL - Coffeyville, KS) James is an incoming offensive guard from Coffeyville Community College. He stands at 6'5 and weighs 305 lbs. Carpenter committed to the Tide on November 29th, after visiting on November 14th (recruited by Joe Pendry.) The lineman took an official visit (to then led Gene Chizik Iowa State team) to Ames, IA on October 17th. He then visited Texas Tech (11/17/08), Oklahoma (11/21/08 by Kevin Wilson), and Ole Miss (11/28/08 by Mike Markuson.) Other schools that recruited the 6'5 lineman were Kansas and South Carolina. It shows just how good Nick Saban is at recruiting. He was able to walk into Big 12 country and sign a JUCO from the likes of Texas Tech and Oklahoma (whom were both in the BCS chase last year.) Carpenter comes into the football program benching 355 lbs. (max) and squatting 455 lbs. (max.) For Carpenter's Coffeyville Community College profile click here:
